Radisson Edwardian Grafton Hotel, Tottenham Court Road, London

Dragging my suitcase a few yards down from Warren Street Tube I enter the Radisson Edwardian Grafton Hotel on Tottenham Court Road. The reception is not the usual long drawn out desk but a collection of small personal greeting points staffed by friendly people. Checking in was easy and didn’t involve the sometimes tedious ritual of filling in forms and putting your signature in half a dozen places.

Heading off to my room on the fourth floor the hotel was clearly different to the many I have been in before. It had a great of character and individual touches along the way. Tastefully decorated throughout I was impressed with how it combined both a modern clean feel with one of classic good taste. The bedroom itself was equally good and well laid out. Lots of pillows and throws just added to its welcoming appeal. A long day having just ending, I ran the bath and settled in for a bit of me time, before heading down to the restaurant for dinner.

Another very pleasant experience. The restaurant was professional and unusually for a hotel it also had an atmosphere. The large old classic ceilings were broken up with neat modern lighting and the walls were hung with a good selection of old paintings. The fellow diners seemed to be in good spirits and the staff were attentive and organised well.

My food arrived and it was very good indeed. Starting with a freshly prepared soup which was piping hot served with a basket of freshly cooked bread, I moved onto my main course of rib eye steak. After a long day at work, it was just the kind of comfort food you need.

Falling into bed after calling Dusty, the next thing I knew it was 6.00am and I felt as fresh as a daisy!

A great hotel that feels warm, welcoming and friendly. I look forward to coming back. Recommend with hesitation.
